NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convenes its 21st Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convened its 21st regular meeting at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District under the chairpersonship of Dr. Hameed Ahmed Husain and membership of Mr. Abdulla Alderazi and Mrs. Wedad Almoosawi.
The Head of the Committee opened the meeting by reviewing all the resolutions and recommendations adopted by the Committee at its previous meeting and the actions taken thereon.
The Committee addressed one of the complaints referred to it by the NIHR’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up, with regard to the right to housing, where the Committee visited the complainant and found that there was no infringed right. A report was prepared by the Committee in that regard.
The Committee also considered the draft Law amending Article (56) of the Traffic Law promulgated by the Law No. (23) of 2014 based upon the proposed Law (as amended) submitted by the Council of Representatives and referred to it by the Secretariat General, on which the Committee gave its opinion.
